PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am a reliable, organised and motivated person who enjoys a challenge and works hard to achieve goals set. Honest, trustworthy and extremely hard working, I possess plenty of patience and stamina for the task in hand with a logical approach to problem solving, lots of initiative and common sense. A quick thinker with a lively mind and good memory, I have the confidence to take responsibility for my own actions and enjoy tackling challenging situations and complex tasks. My communication and interpersonal skills are well developed and I can interact with people and convey relatively complex information clearly and concisely to others and am looking to develop my existing knowledge and learn some new skills within a progressive organisation.

I was responsible for registering new computers and monitors on their asset management system, installing Windows 7 on the new computers to their own specification and requirements. I also liaised with internal customers and agreed a time when it would be convenient for them to have their computer swapped with a newly built computer, I also gave them some training on the changes from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and answered any questions they had. Once this had been completed I was responsible for removing the hard drives from out of the old computers putting them to one side so that they could be shredded securely, and disposing of the old hardware in line with the WEEE regulations 2013. This was a temporary position.

I was originally employed as a Junior Web Developer responsible for setting up new client domain names and websites on Cobalt Raq’s and Plesk Servers, slicing customer website designs using Adobe ImageReady from the web designers and building sites from sliced up designs in Macromedia Dreamweaver. From May 2005, I worked as a Senior Web Developer and had responsibility for managing multiple domain names, websites and servers built on an in-house bespoke content management system for a large travel company, implementing a system to cache holiday results previously searched from a third party XML feed to improve loading speed of websites and testing new features on websites prior to going live. I kept local and live sites synchronised using rsync and cron, provided support to company web developers and worked on small business client websites. I very much enjoyed the technical aspects of the role and opportunity to develop my skills.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

I am a keen amateur photographer and like spending time fixing and repairing computers for family and friends. I also use my previous knowledge and experience of working as a web developer to write and develop plug-ins for the WordPress blogging platform and have made them freely available to the open source community who have written and donated to acknowledge my help. I like to tinker with the Linux operating system mainly as a server. I find driving a pleasure and I enjoy socialising with friends, walking in the countryside and relaxing watching my favourite television programmes and online computer gaming.
